Senior Data Center Technician (DCT III) for AI / GPU cloud providers (neoclouds)
A GPU cloud floor punishes slow hands in a way a colocation hall rarely does, because idle accelerators are idle revenue. You need a senior technician who stays accurate at pace, and a résumé will not tell you which kind you are looking at.
This is what we do all day: recruit data center professionals.

What does this hire really come down to?
The senior seat in a neocloud is a different job from the same title in a retail colocation hall. Racks arrive in large, repeated batches, power density is high, and liquid loops or rear door heat exchangers may sit beside the servers.
The senior technician is expected to run a build lane: unpacking, rail install, cabling to a documented map, and burn-in handoff, while coaching two or three less experienced hands. Work is judged on how few nodes come back for a second touch. Separate that from the level below. A Level II technician follows a work order and escalates oddities. The DCT III decides when a pattern of failures is a bad cable lot, a seating problem, a firmware mismatch or a facility fault, and says so before the whole row is built. The decision belongs to the senior person; sign-off on live power or coolant work stays with the facility authority and the written procedure.
Client differences matter. A provider leasing space from a wholesale landlord has remote hands rules, change windows and access limits. One running its own halls controls the whole stack but often has thinner process. Ask which world the person has worked in, and whether they ever had to wait on someone else to approve a physical change.
What do we check before you see anyone?
Ask for a walk through a node install from crate to handoff. A strong answer names the cabling map, torque or seating checks, labelling, and what gets recorded when a part fails on arrival. Ask how they handled transceivers, optical cleaning and fibre faults in a dense fabric.

- Ask how they handled transceivers, optical cleaning and fibre faults in a dense fabric. People who only plugged cables describe it loosely; people who traced faults describe inspection and swapping order.
- Ask what they did around liquid cooling connections, if anything. Hands-on quick disconnect work is different from standing near a cooling distribution unit, and the honest answer matters.
How we help you hire

- 04
We help you complete the hire
We help with feedback, the offer and start arrangements, and stay in touch as you make your decision.
Where do we find these candidates?
Technicians from large enterprise or hyperscale server deployment teams, where rack and stack ran as a repeatable process, often adapt fastest to a neocloud pace. Senior remote hands and field service people from colocation operators know change windows and tickets, though some have little build volume experience.

Which hiring mistakes should you avoid?
Do not hire for server knowledge alone and find the person has never worked around high density power or coolant lines. Do not treat a short build ramp as proof that speed outweighs record keeping. Do not miss serial and port data costs more later.

- Titling the role senior without saying whether the person leads a shift lane, since the successful hire will assume leadership or none at all.

Questions we settle before outreach
- Define the lane and the hall
Write down what the senior person owns: a build crew, a break fix queue, or both. Then tell us the cooling type, any landlord access limits, and who they report to.
- Screen on method
We screen candidates on how they work through a defective batch, not on a list of hardware brands.
- Close on authority
Confirm what they may approve alone before offering, so expectations match from the first shift.

Questions
How soon can you present a shortlist for a senior technician in a GPU cloud?
It depends on how much you can say about hall type, cooling and shift pattern at the start. A clear brief shortens the screening more than anything we do on our side. We will tell you early if the pool for your site looks thin.
How should we handle a counteroffer when the technician already leads builds elsewhere?
We talk about why the person wants to move and whether they might stay. If that changes, we let you know.
Do we need to pay relocation for this seat?
Neocloud sites sit in places where the local pool is small, so relocation support widens the field. Decide in advance whether you offer a lump sum, temporary housing or neither, and say so in the first call.
Does the role involve travel or per diem?
Some senior technicians are sent to stand up new halls before settling at one site. If that applies, state the travel share and per diem rules up front so candidates can judge it honestly.
How do we judge fit between a hyperscale background and our smaller team?
Ask how many people they had to coordinate with before a change went through. Someone used to heavy process may chafe in a thin one, while a person from a small shop may skip steps in a large one.
What should we settle about fees before a neocloud search starts?
Ask what event triggers the fee and what the agreement says if the person leaves during a rapid hall build-out. We walk through those terms before any search begins.
