CSA Manager (Civil, Structural, Architectural) recruiters who bring you a focused shortlist

Data Center Headhunters are CSA Manager (Civil, Structural, Architectural) recruiters for data center owners, operators and builders. Send us the open role and we find working CSA Manager (Civil, Structural, Architectural) candidates, qualify each one live and give you a short list to interview. No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire.

You are hiring one person to hold the shell of the building together: earthwork, foundations, steel or precast, envelope and interior finishes, all sequenced around a power and cooling program that cannot slip.

This is what we do all day: recruit data center professionals.

No postings. No stacks of resumes. No chasing. You interview a short list.

No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire.

What does this hire really come down to?

A CSA manager owns the non-electrical, non-mechanical scope. That means the subcontractor packages for site work, concrete, structure, roofing, cladding and fit-out, plus the coordination where those trades meet the MEP crews. The seat does not carry switching authority or commissioning sign-off.

It does carry the decision to stop a pour, reject a delivery, or hold a roof penetration until the pipe and conduit routes are settled. The neighbouring seats differ. A CSA superintendent runs the daily crews and the look-ahead, while the manager runs the packages, the subcontract relationships and the interface with the design team. Below that, a project engineer processes RFIs and submittals for the manager. If your job is mostly paperwork flow, you want an engineer. If it is mostly arguments with a steel erector about a late fabrication shop drawing, you want the manager.

Project type changes the answer. A hyperscale shell repeated across several halls rewards someone who can refine a repeatable sequence. A fit-out inside a live building rewards someone who understands dust control, vibration limits, and noise windows agreed with the operator.

What do we check before you see anyone?

Ask which trade packages they bought and which they only administered. Someone who negotiated scope gaps with a concrete subcontractor describes exclusions and allowances in detail; someone who inherited the buyout speaks in generalities. Have them walk through a slab flatness or floor-loading problem on a heavy equipment hall and who made the final call to accept or grind.

  • Have them walk through a slab flatness or floor-loading problem on a heavy equipment hall and who made the final call to accept or grind.
  • Probe the envelope handoff: how did they protect finished white space from water while the roof was incomplete, and who signed the turnover of each area?
  • Ask how they sequenced structure against underground utilities and duct banks, and what they gave up when the electrical team needed access early.

Where do we find these candidates?

General contractor field management with heavy civil and structural scope is the deepest pool, particularly people who ran large warehouse, logistics or industrial shells before mission critical work. Self-performing concrete and steel contractors produce managers who know cost and production rates firsthand, though some have never handled owner reporting or design team friction.

  • Owner-side construction managers and architects with field experience bring strong design intent judgment but need testing on subcontractor discipline.

Which hiring mistakes should you avoid?

Do not hire a vertical commercial builder who has never worked with tight tolerances for equipment pads, raised floor or cable tray support. Do not treat the role as an architect substitute and then find nobody owns day-to-day subcontractor performance.

Your search in 3 steps

  1. Define the package boundary

We ask which trade scopes sit under this seat and which belong to the MEP lead, so the search targets the real gap rather than a title.

  2. Screen on interface stories

Early calls focus on where structure met mechanical or electrical work and what the candidate decided on the spot.

  3. Check the design team relationship, then present

We look for how they handled architect and engineer disagreements without freezing the schedule. Each shortlist note says what the person is strongest at and what you would need to cover around them.

What does BLS publish for this role?

The figure below comes from the national OEWS row for Civil Engineers. Read the mapping badge before using it in a budget. A broader occupation can include jobs outside data centers. Compare your seat’s responsibilities and pay basis with the published occupation rather than treating the median as an offer quote.

Broader occupation. Civil Engineers is a broader occupation based on the work described, not a separate data center wage series. BLS does not distinguish this title, experience level, shift, credentials or data center employers. Confirm the actual duties before using this comparison.

Questions

How soon will we see CSA manager candidates?

We confirm the scope, the project phase and your must-haves first, then share profiles as people pass our screen. The pace depends on whether you need heavy civil depth or fit-out experience, so we will tell you early if the brief is narrow.

What if a candidate gets a counteroffer from a builder mid-project?

People inside a half-built job are often asked to stay. We raise this in the first conversation and ask what would actually change their mind, so you hear the real risk before you extend an offer.

Would a structural or civil manager move for a campus site?

Many already move job to job, but schools and housing are real limits. We ask early whether they would relocate or prefer a rotation, and report that with the profile.

Who pays for lodging while the manager works a remote site?

Remote campuses often mean a lodging allowance or a rotation instead of relocation. Tell us what you cover and for how long, and we will screen only people who accept that.

How do we judge fit between a warehouse builder and a mission critical shell?

Ask how they handled floor tolerance, equipment access and tightly sequenced MEP rough-in. Strong industrial builders adapt quickly if they respect the interfaces, which we try to confirm before introducing them.

Can you explain the fee before we brief you on the shell scope?

The fee arrangement is in the agreement you receive before any search begins. We can go through it on a call before you share the project details.

How a search runs

How does The Six-Step Search work?

Every search runs the same six steps. We agree the brief with you, map where the people work, find direct contact routes, reach out personally and repeatedly, then qualify each candidate live. You only see a short list of people who fit, with notes on each, and we stay with you through offer and start.

  1. 01

    Search Calibration

You get: A written brief you sign off on: scope, must-haves, pay band and who not to approach.

  2. 02

    Market Mapping

You get: A map of the companies and projects where your future hire is working today.

  3. 03

    Professional Contact Intelligence

You get: Verified direct contact routes to the people on that map, not job board replies.

  4. 04

    Persistent Personalized Outreach

You get: Repeated, role-specific outreach to people who are not looking, in your words.

  5. 05

    Live Candidate Qualification

You get: Each candidate is screened live against your brief before you hear their name.

  6. 06

    Candidate Intelligence and Process Support

You get: A short list with candidate briefs, then support through interviews, offer and start.
