EHS, Safety & Security 10 titles
- EHS Manager, Data CenterA live data center has electrical hazards, contractors and round-the-clock work, so the person running safety needs to build a program that people actually follow.
- Site Safety Manager, ConstructionWhen hundreds of craft workers are on site and energization is approaching, the safety manager has to coach crews, not only audit them.
- Regional Safety DirectorWhen several jobs run at once, one safety director is either setting the standard across all of them or being quoted a different one by each superintendent.
- Safety Coordinator / SpecialistYou want a safety person who walks the site, corrects what they see, and writes it down, not one who files paperwork from a trailer.
- Electrical Safety Manager (NFPA 70E)You are hiring someone who decides whether a person may open energized equipment, and that decision belongs to your company, not to a course certificate.
- EHS DirectorAn EHS director answers to your leadership for the entire safety, health, and environmental record, so you need judgment about people and risk more than field skill.
- Physical Security ManagerYour doors, cameras and guards only protect the building if one person owns how they work together and can prove it to an auditor.
- Security Operations Manager (GSOC)A global security operations center watches doors, cameras, and alarms for your facility around the clock, and its manager decides how a bad night gets handled.
- Environmental Compliance ManagerYour site holds air permits, fuel storage, refrigerants, and stormwater duties that someone must know by heart.
- Fire & Life Safety ManagerA fire and life safety manager is responsible for the systems that must work on the worst day: alarms, suppression, egress, and the people who test them.
Is the hire construction safety, operating EHS or physical security?
Site safety managers protect construction crews. EHS managers cover environment, health and safety on operating sites. Physical security and GSOC managers protect people, assets and access. Electrical safety managers focus on NFPA 70E programs. Name the setting and hazard, because a construction safety leader and an operating site EHS manager solve different problems.
Regional safety directors and EHS directors lead programs across many sites and need influence as much as technical knowledge. Ask how they changed behavior at a site that resisted.
Safety coordinators and specialists support the program daily. They are often a pipeline to manager roles and benefit from strong mentors.
Where do environmental and fire roles fit?
Environmental compliance managers handle permits, reporting and inspections for generators, fuel and water. Fire and life safety managers oversee systems and procedures that protect people and buildings. Both are compliance-heavy roles that need precise documentation and real calm under inspection.
Generator air permits and fuel storage rules vary by jurisdiction. An environmental compliance manager who knows your region shortens the learning curve.
Fire and life safety managers coordinate with local authorities and insurers. Ask about inspections they prepared for and findings they resolved.
How senior should the first safety hire be?
Match seniority to the program you have. If no program exists, start with a manager who can build one and win trust with field leaders. If a program exists but sites drift, a regional director may be needed to enforce consistency. A coordinator alone rarely fixes a weak culture, however capable they are.
Safety leaders need authority to stop work and visible backing when they use it. Say in the brief who they report to and how stop-work decisions are supported.
Physical security and EHS often get combined on smaller sites. That can work, but the person needs real competence in both, and the posting should be honest about the split.
Electrical safety deserves its own owner on large campuses. An NFPA 70E program needs someone to keep training, labels and energized work permits current.
Fire and life safety managers coordinate with insurers and local authorities, so the brief should say which inspections they will lead.
Questions
Should I hire an EHS manager or a site safety manager?
An EHS manager covers operating sites and environmental duties. A site safety manager focuses on construction safety.
Does an electrical safety manager need NFPA 70E experience?
Yes. The role exists to run the electrical safety program, so prior program ownership matters.
What does a EHS, Safety and Security search cost?
No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire. The fee basis is written in the agreement before outreach starts.
How long does a EHS, Safety and Security search take?
It depends on the title, level, location and your interview process. We agree a realistic plan at calibration and do not promise a date.
How do you handle counteroffers for EHS, Safety and Security candidates?
We discuss motivation and likely counteroffers during live qualification and again before you make an offer.
What guarantee applies to EHS, Safety and Security hires?
We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement.
What do you not do in a EHS, Safety and Security search?
We do not post your role on job boards, send unscreened resumes or approach candidates before the brief is agreed.
How long did your last search take? How much did the empty seat cost while you waited?
An open data center seat holds up commissioning dates, stretches the people covering it and adds cost every week it stays empty. Put your own numbers into the cost-of-vacancy calculator, then compare that figure with a contingency search where you pay only if you hire.
