Permanent direct hire

Data Center Headhunters recruits critical facilities, data center operations, construction and delivery, commissioning, power and cooling, and executive talent for colocation, hyperscale and enterprise sites. We research the market, contact working people and qualify a shortlist for your opening. No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire.

You have a seat that will exist next year, and you want a person who treats it that way, not someone passing through.

This is what we do all day: recruit data center professionals.

No postings. No stacks of resumes. No chasing. You interview a short list.

No upfront fee. You pay only if you hire.

We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement.

What does this hire really come down to?

Permanent direct hire is the default way we work. You become the employer on the first day. You set the pay, benefits, reporting line and review cycle. We find candidates, test them against your brief and present those who fit. After the offer the relationship is between you and the person.

The model suits work with a long tail. A site engineer who learns your plant, a project manager who carries a client relationship, a controls lead who knows your history. These roles gain value with time, and a permanent hire is the way to keep that value inside your company. Direct hire is a poor fit for work with a clear end, for a gap you cannot define or for a crew you need on site before you can post a job internally. If the seat might vanish when a project closes, say so before we start. A candidate who learns that after an offer is a candidate you will lose, and the next search starts with a worse reputation.

Fees work on contingency by default. You pay when you hire someone we presented, and you pay no retainer to begin. The shared terms on this site set out the fee and the guarantee, so read them before you sign.

What do we check before you see anyone?

Write the seat in terms of work, not titles. List the systems, the crew size, the reporting line and what the person must own in the first quarter. A brief of that kind lets us screen out candidates who look right on paper and wrong on the job.

  • Decide who may approve the offer. A search stalls when the hiring manager likes someone and an executive has not seen the number. Name the approver before the first interview.
  • Set the pay range honestly. If your range sits below the market for the work, say so now. We can tell you where it falls, and you can decide whether to change it or accept a narrower pool.

Where do we find these candidates?

For permanent seats we look at people who already hold similar work and have a reason to consider a change. They come from owners, contractors, equipment makers, engineering firms and operating sites, depending on the seat. People move for reasons that rarely match the job post.

A construction manager leaves when a program ends and the next one is far from home. An operations lead leaves when maintenance is cut. We ask about those reasons early and tell you what we hear, so your offer addresses the real motive.

Which hiring mistakes should you avoid?

Do not write a brief that lists every possible skill, which leaves no way to judge whether anyone is a match and turns interviews into a search for perfection. Do not hide the real reporting line or the real workload, and then lose the person within months when they learn the truth.

  • Running slow interviews with unclear decision makers, so the best candidate accepts another offer while you are still deciding.

How the search runs

  1. Brief the seat

We talk through the work, the people around it, the pay range and what will make the hire succeed or fail. We write it down and ask you to correct it.

  2. Screen and present

We speak to candidates, check their story against what they say they did and present those who fit, with any doubts we could not settle.

  3. Support the offer

We help you shape terms, handle counteroffers and keep the candidate informed until the start. The employment relationship is yours from day one.

Questions

When do we owe a fee on a permanent hire?

You owe it when you hire someone we introduced to you. The shared terms on this site describe the fee and what protects you if the hire does not work out. Read those terms before starting.

Can we pay a retainer instead of contingency?

Yes, if you ask for it. Most clients choose contingency because payment follows a hire. A retainer makes more sense when the search is unusually hard to define.

Does a permanent hire need a relocation package?

That is your decision, and it affects the pool. A package widens the pool and shows commitment. If you cannot offer one, tell us at the brief so we focus on candidates near the site.

How do we handle a candidate who gets a counteroffer?

Expect it and discuss it in advance. We ask candidates early what would keep them where they are. If the answer is money only, the counteroffer may work.

Can we hire permanently for a role tied to one project?

Yes, if you are honest about it. Some candidates welcome a defined project with a path afterward. Others need certainty, and we will say which group fits your seat.

How do we choose between permanent and the other models?

Ask whether the work lasts and whether you want to own the relationship. If both answers are yes, permanent is the better fit. If the work is short or uncertain, look at the other engagement pages.

How a search runs

How does The Six-Step Search work?

Every search runs the same six steps. We agree the brief with you, map where the people work, find direct contact routes, reach out personally and repeatedly, then qualify each candidate live. You only see a short list of people who fit, with notes on each, and we stay with you through offer and start.

  1. 01

    Search Calibration

You get: A written brief you sign off on: scope, must-haves, pay band and who not to approach.

  2. 02

    Market Mapping

You get: A map of the companies and projects where your future hire is working today.

  3. 03

    Professional Contact Intelligence

You get: Verified direct contact routes to the people on that map, not job board replies.

  4. 04

    Persistent Personalized Outreach

You get: Repeated, role-specific outreach to people who are not looking, in your words.

  5. 05

    Live Candidate Qualification

You get: Each candidate is screened live against your brief before you hear their name.

  6. 06

    Candidate Intelligence and Process Support

You get: A short list with candidate briefs, then support through interviews, offer and start.

What should you know before you send a role?

How long until I see a short list?

It depends on the role, the location and the market. We agree a realistic timeline with you during Search Calibration and keep you updated as the search runs.

Is there a guarantee?

We offer a candidate replacement guarantee on standard search agreements. The applicable period and exact terms are set out in the signed client recruiting agreement.

What don't you do?

We do not post your job on boards, send stacks of unscreened resumes or charge an upfront fee. We do not approach candidates for your search before the brief is agreed with you.
